Cincinnati Cyclones News Release

ELMIRA, New York - A first period outburst helped the Cincinnati Cyclones (33-20-2-4) cruise past the Elmira Jackals (22-29-3-5) by a 4-1 final score in front of 2,412 at First Arena on Friday night. Anthony Luciani finished with another multi-point game while the Cyclones posted 40+ shots on net for the fourth consecutive tilt.

The Cyclones wasted little time setting the tone in the contest; Dan Eves and Anthony Luciani both potted goals in the first four minutes. Then, at 8:12, Josh Birkholz bounced a puck from center ice that rattled through the legs of goaltender Neil Conway (L, 37 saves, 8-4-1-2) and in to make it 3-0 Cincinnati. Newcomer Steven Anthony followed by tipping home a Devon Krogh point shot for his first goal of the season at 16:33 - sending the Cyclones to the locker room with a 4-0 edge. It was just the seventh time this season that Ben Simon's team scored the first four goals of the game.

The Jackals finally stopped the bleeding at 14:41 when Jean Bourbeau wrested home his 11the goal of the season past a well-screened Rob Madore (W, 33 saves, 14-10-0) at the end of an odd-man rush. At the other end of the ice, Conway stayed strong between the pipes and made 17 middle period saves to keep the Elmira deficit at 4-1 through 40 minutes of play.

The defensive trend continued into the third period, as neither team would surrender a goal the rest of the way. And after killing off a late Elmira power play, the Cyclones salted away the final minutes and captured the 4-1 victory.

Cincinnati will now make their way into Wheeling, West Virginia for a Saturday night meeting with the Nailers. Fans can hear all the action on the Cyclones Radio Network (CyclonesHockey.com, America One, Cyclones Mobile App) beginning at 6:30pm followed by a 7:00pm opening face-off.

The Cyclones will return to U.S. Bank Arena on Friday, March 21 when they welcome in the Elmira Jackals at 7:30pm! The first 3,000 fans through the gates will receive a limited edition Cyclones hat!
