TONIGHT:
The Ontario Reign (37-17-2-3), the top team in the Pacific Division, will host the Las Vegas Wranglers (37-17-2-3), the last place team in the Pacific Division at Citizens Business Bank Arena. It has been exactly one month since these two teams faced each other in Las Vegas when the Reign routed the Wranglers 4-0 in Jussi Olkinuora's first and only shutout of the season so far. This season Ontario is 6-1-0-0 against the Wranglers with five of those games being played at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. Western Conference teams make up the five most-penalized in the league, the Wranglers and Reign rank fourth and fifth, respectively, so a physical game can be expected tonight.
WHO TO WATCH:
The Reign's leading scorer against the Wranglers is rookie Matt White, who is also the team's overall leading scorer with 46 points (17g, 29a). White has posted eight points (2g, 6a) against Las Vegas. The Wranglers leader against the Reign is Chad Nehring; he has eight points (4g, 4a) against Ontario. Olkinuora has four starts against this Pacific Division team and has a .908 save percentage - the best of any other opponent series this season.
ECHL TRADE DEADLINE:
Following the ECHL trade deadline, some roster changes have taken effect for Ontario including a trade involving Cameron Burt to the Florida Everblades for Olivier Malka (aka Olivier Dame-Malka) and future considerations. Malka is expected to suit up for Ontario tonight and will wear number 25. The Reign also picked up Jeremy Yablonski but he will not be playing this weekend.
LEADING THE LEAGUE:
Ontario is now tied with Alaska for the league-lead in points with 79 and a 0.669 win percentage. The Reign's fans have propelled the team attendance to all-time highs this season with a current average of 7,878 fans fillings Citizens Business Bank Arena per game.
DOWN AFTER THE FIRST HORN:
The Reign have a 9-7-1-2 record when trailing after the first period which is the most wins in the league in that situation.
