
Orlando Drops 7-1 Decision to Evansville

Evansville, IN - The IceMen knocked home three goals in the first period and two each in the second and third to defeat the Orlando Solar Bears 7-1 at the Ford Center on Friday night.
Evansville struck for the first goal 8:50 into the contest. F Alex Aleardi lifted a pass to F Kevin Lynch who was wide open in front of the net, and Lynch picked the top right corner for the 1-0 lead. F Dalton Leveille doubled the IceMen advantage at 12:19 when he recovered a loose puck in front of the goal crease and snapped a shot under the crossbar. The Solar Bears answered back 2:20 later. F Kory Nagy took a pass from D Blake Kessel and then found D Eric Baier open on the left side of the attacking zone. Baier whipped the puck over the shoulder of G Garrett Bartus to cut the lead to 2-1. With just 2:44 left in the first period, the IceMen regained their two goal lead when F Matt Lowry fired a wrist shot from the high slot, through traffic, and just inside the left post as Evansville took the 3-1 lead into the first intermission.
Early in the second, the IceMen increased the score to 4-1. Leveille gathered the puck in the left corner and made a quick pass to Aleardi who snapped a quick shot on goal. G Maxime Clermont made the initial stop but Aleardi got to his own rebound and knocked the puck into the back of the net 1:46 in the second stanza. With 2:08 to play in the period, F Dylan Clarke slammed a rebound off a shot from D Antoine Corbin over the pads of Clermont to give Evansville a 5-1 advantage. Moments later, F Ryan Flanigan was awarded a penalty shot, but Clermont turned the chance aside with a blocker save. The period ended with Evansville leading 5-1 over the Solar Bears.
Just under nine minutes into the third, Leveille struck for his second goal of the game, this time on the power play. D Loren Barron held the puck at the blue line and found Levielle who blasted a slap shot inside the left post from the top of the left circle to give Evansville the 6-1 lead. Aleardi then capped off the scoring with the second power play goal of the period for the IceMen for the game's final 7-1 score.

Notes:
F Brad Ross made his Solar Bears debut tonight... G Maxime Clermont came into the game to start the second period to make is Solar Bears debut. He stopped a penalty shot late in the second period. It was the third penalty shot surrendered by Orlando this season... The seven goals surrendered by the Solar Bears tonight were the most they have given up in a single game this season... D Eric Baier has now registered a point in each of the three games he has played for the Solar Bears since returning from the 21-day IR on March 7 in Greenville.
