Reign Trade Burt to Florida for Malka

ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign, back-to-back Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings and Winnipeg Jets, announced that Cameron Burt has been traded to the Florida Everblades in exchange for defenseman Olivier Malka and future considerations.

Malka, 23, has spent all of 2013-14 with the Everblades this year recording 19 points (9g, 10a) in 49 games with a +19 plus-minus rating. The Montreal, Quebec native made his first appearance with Florida last season for a total of 22 games where he had a goal and four assists for five points. Prior to joining the Everblades in 2012-13, Malka split time between the Bakersfield Condors and Toledo Walleye for 30 games in which he earned 14 points (6g, 8a).

The defenseman made his professional debut in 2011-12 with the AHL's Hamilton Bulldogs. Malka spent the rest of the season between Hamilton and the Wheeling Nailers. He had three points (1g, 2a) in 21 Bulldogs games, and 18 points (7g, 11a) in 36 Nailers games.

Burt, 27, heads to Florida with 22 points (5g, 17a) on the season in 32 Reign games. He spent some time in the AHL with the Manchester Monarchs where he earned six points (1g, 5a) in nine games. Burt made his professional debut with the Reign in 2011-12 after completing a four-year collegiate career at R.I.T.

The Reign will host the Las Vegas Wranglers on Friday, Mar. 14 for a 7 p.m. game.
