
Eagles Shutout Aces 2-0 for First Ever Win in Alaska

ANCORAGE, AK - The Colorado Eagles (29-18-6-4) shutout the Alaska Aces (37-17-2-3), 2-0, for their first ever win at Sullivan Arena on Thursday night.
The first period saw no score from either team as Alaska netminder Gerald Coleman made 12 saves on 12 shots and Eagles goalie Dustin Butler stopped all 14 of the Aces shots in the first.
Forward Kyle Ostrow finally stuffed the puck home from the low slot while crashing the net, to give Colorado the 1-0 lead, 8:02 into the second frame.
Butler would turn aside nine shots in the second period to give the Eagles the 1-0 lead after 40 minutes.
With only six seconds left in the third period forward Jesse Mychan caught a pass from Eagles captain Riley Nelson on a breakaway and scored on the Aces empty net to give Colorado the 2-0 advantage.
Butler held off all of Alaska's 17 shots in the third period and all 40 shots in the game to secure his first professional shutout and the Eagles first victory at Sullivan Arena, 2-0.
The same two teams meet again on Friday night at Sullivan Arena, with the opening face-off set for 9:15pm Mountain Time.
