
Stingrays Fall to Gladiators to Wrap up Road Trip

Duluth, GA - The South Carolina Stingrays (35-19-2-3) dropped a 4-1 decision to the Gwinnett Gladiators (24-32-2-2) at The Arena at Gwinnett Center Friday night to close a season-long six-game road trip and kick off a three-game in three-day weekend.
The Gladiators jumped out to an early lead when forward Brenden Walker settled a bouncing puck and lifted shot over goaltender Jeff Jakaitis (L, 21 saves on 25 shots) at 4:34 of the first period. Stingrays forward Nick Larson responded with a power-play tally tipping a pass from forward Dale Mitchell between the legs of netminder Mark Guggenberger (W, 25 saves on 26 shots). Forward Peter Boyd added the second assist.
Gwinnett added three more tallies in the middle stanza to take a 4-1 lead into the second intermission. Team captain Joey Haddad extended his personal point streak to nine games with his 17 tally of the season 2:56 into the frame. Walker grabbed his second goal of the contest moments later at 9:03 followed by forward Marshall Everson's 17 marker of the campaign at 12:13. The Stingrays held the Gladiators to two shots in the third period, but could not mount a comeback against Guggenberger. The Stingrays finished the game 1-for-3 on the power play while the Gladiators went 0-for-3.
The Stingrays return to the North Charleston Coliseum tomorrow, Saturday, March 15 to celebrate Lowcountry Food Bank Night against the Gladiators at 7:05 p.m. Bring non-perishable food items to the game to help stock the Lowcountry Food Bank's shelves during the spring and summer months!
