
Elmira Jackals Sign Jesper Strale out of Elmira College

ELMIRA, N.Y. - March 14, 2014 - The Elmira Jackals announced today that they have signed Elmira College's Jesper Strale to an amateur tryout.
Strale, 24, joins the Jackals following a four-year career at Elmira College (NCAA-III). In 96 collegiate games Strale recorded 38 goals and 86 points. The Uppsala, Sweden native finished among the top five Soaring Eagles' scorers in each of his four years.
"Jesper Strale showed very good offensive abilities in his four years at Elmira College. I'm excited to have him here with the Jackals and give him the opportunity to pursue a professional career. He should be able to step in and help our offense," said Jackals head coach Dwight Mullins.
The Jackals' roster was shuffled amid a flurry of additional transactions today. Rookie defenseman Troy Rutkowski has been reassigned to Elmira by the Ottawa Senators from the Binghamton Senators of the American Hockey League, goalie Scott Greenham has been recalled by Binghamton, defenseman Maxim Lamarche has been reassigned by the Philadelphia Flyers to the Adirondack Phantoms and Colin Jacobs has been reassigned to Elmira by the Buffalo Sabres from the Rochester Americans.
Rutkowski, 21, has been reassigned to Elmira after his fifth AHL stint this season. The rookie defenseman saw game action in three games with the Senators since he was reassigned to Binghamton on February 26. He began the season with the Senators and scored his first professional goal on October 20, 2013 against Bridgeport. In 11 AHL games Rutkowski has one goal on eight shots. In 38 games with the Jackals Rutkowski has nine assists.
Greenham, 26, has been recalled by Binghamton for the third time this year. The Ottawa, Ontario native earned his first AHL win in his only appearance with the Senators this season. Greenham stopped 33 of 36 shots and backstopped Binghamton to a 6-3 victory on January 26 against Albany. In 26 games with Elmira this season Greenham has an 8-14-3 record with a 3.13 goals-against-average and a .905 save percentage.
Lamarche, 21, has three goals and eight points in 50 games with the Jackals this season. The Laval, Quebec native been reassigned by Philadelphia to Adirondack for his second stint this year. The rookie defenseman has seen action in three games with the Phantoms this season but has yet to register a point. He played his last AHL game on December 31 against Worcester.
Jacobs, 20, has one goal in seven games with the Jackals. The 6-foot-1, 215-pound center was a fourth-round draft pick (#107 overall) by the Sabres in the 2011 National Hockey League Entry Draft. The rookie from Coppell, Texas has one assist in 23 American Hockey League games with Rochester this season.
The Elmira Jackals also announced today that rookie forward Ludwig Karlsson has been placed on the 21-day injured list, Jordan Ciccarello has been released from his ATO, and Evan Haney and Jakub Culek have been placed on reserve.
Karlsson, 23, has 11 goals and 24 points in 38 games with the Jackals this season. The Stockholm, Sweden native has also appeared in eight games with Binghamton in the AHL, but has not recorded a point.
Ciccarello, 23, did not appear in any games with Elmira.
Haney, 23, appeared in one game with the Jackals but did not register a point.
Culek, 21, leads all Jackals rookies with 30 points (eight goals, 22 assists) in 47 games. The Plzen, Czech Republic native has also skated in two games with Binghamton this season, but did not record a point.
