Steelheads Suspend Melson

BOISE, Idaho - The Idaho Steelheads today suspended defenseman Taj Melson after claiming him off waivers on December 9th, 2003. Melson will return to university.

The American-born Melson played in 3 games with the San Diego Gulls this season before being released by the team and being claimed by Idaho. Prior to 2003-04, the 29-year-old played parts of 5 seasons with the Gulls. In addition, he has played for the Utah Grizzlies, Las Vegas Thunder, and the Fort-Wayne Comets after his 4 years with NCAA St. Cloud State.

The Idaho Steelheads take on the defending WCHL champion San Diego Gulls for a two-game weekend set before returning home for three-games against the Bakersfield Condors on December 17th, 19th and 20th.
