Greensboro Generals News Release

Michael Garnett made 40 saves to post his first professional shutout as the Gladiators knocked off the Greensboro Generals 2-0 Thursday night at the Greensboro Coliseum.

Wes Fox opened the scoring late in the first period on a fluttering slap shot from the right face-off circle that eluded Greensboro goaltender Jamie Hodson under the right arm to give the Gladiators a 1-0 lead. Kris Goodjohn and Paul Flache added the assists for the Gladiators on the goal at 15:01 of the first.

Kevin Doell's 8th goal of the season gave the Gladiators a 2-0 lead midway through the second as he picked up a rebound in the slot and ripped the puck past Greensboro goaltender Hodson. Rick Emmett and Anthony Aquino added the assists on the power play goal at 9:35 of the period.

Garnett, who was named the ECHL's goalie of the week last week, made numerous big saves for the Gladiators in the third period to help the Gladiators improve to 16-5-3 on the season.

Gwinnett is back in action on Friday night as they travel to North Charleston to battle the South Carolina Stingrays in a 7:35 p.m. tilt at the North Charleston Coliseum.
