December 11, 2003 - ECHL (ECHL)
Myrtle Beach Thunderboltz News Release
FLORENCE, SC - The Florence Pride, proud members of the ECHL, announced today that left wing Mike Souza has been loaned to the Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League. Souza will be in uniform tomorrow night when the Pirates play at Lowell.
Souza is second on the Pride in scoring this season, posting eight goals and 13 assists for 21 points in 17 games. His four power-play goals are tied for the team lead with Wes Goldie and Shaun Sutter.
A third round selection (67th overall) of the Chicago Blackhawks in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft, Souza spent each of the last three seasons in the AHL, playing two-plus years with the Norfolk Admirals, and most of last season with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. In 185 career AHL games, he has posted 43 goals and 45 assists for 88 points. He is expected to be with the Pirates for at least the next two weeks.
After playing at Roanoke tomorrow night, the Pride return home for a pair of weekend games. Saturday night, they host the Roanoke Express at 7:30 p.m. on Teddy Bear Toss Night. All fans are encouraged to bring a new, plush toy to the game to throw on the ice after the Pride score their first goal. All of the toys collected will be donated to WBTW News 13's Toys for the Territory campaign. Sunday afternoon, the Pride host the Augusta Lynx at 2:30 p.m. on another Sunday Kids' Day. All kids 12 and under will be able to purchase tickets for just $2.50, and kids' meals will be available for an additional $2.50. Following the game, Pride season-ticket holders will be able to get autographs of their favorite Pride players at a special autograph session.
Tickets for all Pride home games are available at the Florence Civic Center Box Office, or through TicketMaster at (843) 679-9333 or www.ticketmaster.com. The Pride also have group packages and holiday ticket packs available for any budget. For more information, contact Neil Broome at (843) 669-7825.
