Texas Stars News Release
CEDAR PARK, Texas - A second period barrage of 18 shots and two goals was the difference on Friday night for the Texas Stars in a 3-1 win over the visiting Charlotte Checkers at Cedar Park Center in front of 4,914.
Brandon Troock and Matej Stransky each scored the second period goals for Texas. Greg Rallo added another in the third for the 150th goal of his pro career, and Anders Lindback turned aside 21 shots for his third consecutive win in his fourth start since joining the Stars.
Texas (10-7-7-0) will host Charlotte (8-14-2-0) again on Saturday night at 7 p.m.
Justin Shugg scored the only goal of the game for the Checkers with 2:10 remaining in regulation to give the road team life, but Texas locked things down the rest of the way to secure their third straight win.
Troock opened up the scoring at 8:38 of the second after carrying the puck from the corner to the top of the slot and slipping home his first of the year unassisted. Stransky then made it a 2-0 lead at 13:54 on a similar play after stickhandling across the front of the Checkers' net for his second of season.
Rallo's milestone strike came on a one-timer in the left circle off Radek Faksa's cross-ice feed early in the third. It was his sixth of the season. Brendan Ranford also tallied an assist on the goal.
Jesse Root picked up an assist on Stransky's tally.
Drew MacIntyre was pressured all night in net, stopping 37-of-40 shots in the loss for Charlotte.
Texas finished 0-for-7 on the power play. Charlotte went 1-for-6
