
Columbus Blue Jackets Recall Left Wing Kerby Rychel

Springfield, Mass. - The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed left wing Scott Hartnell on Injured Reserve and recalled left wing Kerby Rychel from the Springfield Falcons, Blue Jackets General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.
Hartnell, 32, suffered a broken finger in Thursday's 3-2 win at Washington and is expected to miss two weeks. He has recorded six goals and 11 assists for 17 points with 39 penalty minutes in 28 games during his first season with the Blue Jackets. Acquired from the Philadelphia Flyers in a trade in June 2014, the 14-year NHL veteran has tallied 256-298-554 and 1,491 penalty minutes in 981 career games with the Blue Jackets, Flyers and Nashville Predators. The Regina, Saskatchewan native posted 20-32-52 with 103 penalty minutes in 78 games in 2013-14.
Rychel, 20, made his NHL debut on November 29 at Nashville and picked up three assists and two penalty minutes in four games with the Blue Jackets. He registered his first NHL point on December 1 vs. Florida and his first career multi-point game (0-2-2) on December 4 at Florida. The Torrance, California native has also recorded 6-7-13 and 30 penalty minutes in 21 outings with Springfield.
The club's second first round pick, 19th overall, in the 2013 NHL Draft, Rychel spent the past four seasons in the Ontario Hockey League, tallying 122-150-272 and 264 penalty minutes in 256 games with Mississauga, Windsor and Guelph.
