DES MOINES, IA - Iowa Stars Director of Hockey Operations Scott White announced today that the Dallas Stars have loaned left wing Mathias Tjarnqvist to their American Hockey League (AHL) club in Iowa.
The 26-year old Tjarnqvist has appeared in five games for Iowa this season. In those five contests, he has notched five goals and one assist: 5(5/1/6). He notched Iowa's third short-handed goal of the season on December 3rd. He's skated in 12 games for Dallas this season, recording six penalty minutes: 12(0/0/0)6.
Listed at 6-2, 196 pounds, the Umea, Sweden born left winger has played in 30 NHL games in his career, accumulating one goal, one assist and eight penalty minutes: 30(1/1/2)8. A third round selection of the Dallas Stars in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, he skated in 46 games in his native Sweden, recording 17 points last season, while his 2003-04 AHL numbers reflect 60 games, with 15 goals and 13 assists: 60(15/13/28).
