Bulldogs hit the road this weekend

Hamilton Bulldogs News Release


The Hamilton Bulldogs (10-17-0-2) will look to extend their winning streak to three games as they play three games in three days this week away from Copps Coliseum. Hamilton will first face the Philadelphia Phantoms (13a-14-0-2) on Friday, December 16 (7:05 p.m.) at the Wachovia Spectrum. Hamilton will then tangle with the Hershey Bears (18-4-2-2) on Saturday, December 17 (7:00 p.m.) at the Giant Center. The Bulldogs will finish off their weekend by battling the Toronto Maple Leafs AHL Affiliate, the Toronto Marlies (12-14-0-0), on Sunday, December 18 (5:05 p.m.) at the Ricoh Coliseum.

Team Notes

- Hamilton's shootout victory over the Syracuse Crunch on Friday, December 9 was the Bulldogs second shootout victory of the season. Hamilton is now 2-2 in shootouts this season.

- The Bulldogs set a franchise record on Saturday, December 10 against the Houston Aeros for the fastest three goals scored in a game, scoring three times in a 57 second span in the third period. The previous record was set on March 1, 2001 against Philadelphia, when the 'Dogs scored three times in 1:05.

- The seven goals scored by the Bulldogs against the Aeros matched the team's season high for most goals scored in one game. They also scored seven goals in a 7-6 win over Syracuse on Friday, October 28.

- The Bulldogs held the Aeros to a season low two shots on goal in the third period on Saturday.

- 14 of 17 Bulldog skaters had at least one point in the 'Dogs 7-1 victory on Saturday.

- The Bulldogs victory over the Aeros was the team's first win this season against a West Division Opponent. Hamilton is now 1-5-0-0 against the West this season.

Player Notes

- C Marc-Antoine Pouliot, who scored the game-winning goal against Houston on Saturday, now leads the team with two game-winning markers this season.

- D Danny Syvret had his first professional multi-point game with two assists against the Aeros.

- LW Peter Vandermeer had two assists against Houston for his first multi-point game of the season. Vandermeer was named the game's third star.

- C Francis Lemieux has three points in his last two games (2 goals, 1 assist).

- C Cory Locke, who had one goal and one assist on Saturday, is now tied for the team lead with nine goals, and leads the team with 15 assists and 24 points.

- D James Sanford scored in the shootout against Syracuse on Friday, December 9 (2-1 W). Sanford is now 4 for 4 in shootout attempts with the Bulldogs. Sanford scored his first goal of the season against the Aeros on Saturday, December 10.

- LW Jean-Francois Jacques is tied for ninth in scoring among rookies. Jacques has 20 points (nine goals, 11 assists) in 26 games.

- RW Pat Kavanagh leads the Phantoms in scoring this season with 21 points (12 goals, 9 assists).

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 17 - HAMILTON BULLDOGS @ HERSHEY BEARS - 7:05 P.M. - GIANT CENTER

- This game will mark the second game this season between Hamilton and Hershey (18-4-2-4). Hershey defeated Hamilton 4-2 on Sunday, October 30 at Copps Coliseum.

- The Bears sit in second place in the East Division with 42 points, three points behind the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

- Rookie RW Eric Fehr leads the Bears in scoring with 28 points (13 goals, 15 assists) in 28 games this season.

- Hamilton D Dan Smith and D Jeff Paul both have played for the Hershey Bears. Smith won the Calder Cup with the Bears in 1997, when they defeated the Bulldogs in the Calder Cup Final.

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 18 - HAMILTON BULLDOGS @ TORONTO MARLIES - 5:00 P.M. - RICOH COLISEUM

- The Bulldogs will face the Marlies (12-14-0-0) for the seventh time this season.

- Hamilton has a 3-2-0-1 record against the Marlies this season.

- Montreal RW Alexander Perezhogin had a goal and an assist in the Canadiens 5-3 loss to the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim on Saturday, December 10. It was Perezhogin's sixth goal of the season.

- Dallas RW Antti Miettinen had two assists on Wednesday, December 7 against the Florida Panthers (4-3 Stars win).

- Edmonton C Jarret Stoll recorded a goal and an assist against Philadelphia on Thursday, December 8 (3-2 Oilers win).

- Columbus D Ron Hainsey had an assist on the overtime winner on Sunday, December 11 against the New Jersey Devils (3-2).
