Abbotsford Heat News Release
Omaha, NE - The Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights are inviting hockey fans to the Omaha Civic Auditorium this weekend to help them make their first annual Teddy Bear Toss a success. Fans are encouraged to bring a new Teddy Bear to the Knights' game against the Iowa Stars on Saturday, December 17th at 7:00 p.m. and toss it on the ice following the Ak-Sar-Ben Knights first goal. All of the bears will be collected and donated to Toys For Tots.
"The Calgary Flames organization has had terrific success with this program, and we're hoping we can rally folks in Omaha to help us support a great cause" said Doug Soetaert, Ak-Sar-Ben Knights President. "This is one more way we can give back to the community."
The Calgary Hitmen, the Western Hockey League junior team owned by the Calgary Flames, recently broke their own Canadian Hockey League Teddy Bear Toss record when they collected 13,650 Teddy Bears in their game against Moose Jaw on December 4th.
The Ak-Sar-Ben Knights are offering special ticket prices for the Teddy Bear Toss game. All tickets in the Second Balcony are just $12 (regularly $21.50). Tickets in the Third Balcony Center are only $10 (regularly $17), and tickets in the Third Balcony Ends are just $8 (regularly $13). Fans do not have to bring a Teddy Bear to take advantage of these special ticket prices.
Tickets are available at the Civic Auditorium box office, Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The box office is open through the opening face-off on game nights. Tickets may also be purchased through any Ticketmaster outlet, by phone at (402) 422-1212 or at Ticketmaster.com. Group tickets for the game may be purchased through the Knights office or by calling (402) 344-4625.
The Knights return to action on Wednesday night when they host the Milwaukee Admirals at 7:00 p.m.
