BRIDGEPORT, Conn (Oct. 18, 2010) - The Sound Tigers played three games in three days this past weekend, starting off in Portland, Maine against the Pirates before coming home for games on Saturday against Hartford and Sunday once more against Portland. Two Pirates goals in a 13-second span were the difference on Friday as Portland beat the Sound Tigers 3-1. Saturday night was the first of 10 contests between the Sound Tigers and Wolf Pack. Mats Zuccarello's goal with just under five minutes remaining in the game gave Hartford a 2-1 win despite 25 saves from Mikko Koskinen. On Sunday the Sound Tigers scored twice on the power play and Kevin Poulin made 31 saves to earn his first career professional win in net as Bridgeport defeated Portland 4-1.Player of the Week:
Rhett Rakhshani earns Sound Tigers Player of the Week honors for the week of Oct. 11-18. The Huntington Beach, CA native scored the first two goals of his professional career in the two Sound Tigers home games this weekend, including the game-winner against Portland on Sunday.Weekend of Milestones:
Travis Hamonic and David Ullstrom also notched their first career professional goals over the three-game weekend. Hamonic's goal came on the power play early on Friday's game against Portland, and Ullstrom put the Sound Tigers on the board in the first period on Sunday after he batted a rebound home on the power play for his first goal as a pro. Captain Mark Wotton played his 300th career game as a Sound Tiger on Friday night in Portland and is the all-time team leader in games played with 302 and counting.Goin' for the Kill:
The penalty kill has been a highlight of the start to the Sound Tigers 2010-11 10th Anniversary Season. The Sound Tigers killed 21 of their opponents' 22 power play opportunities this past weekend and are ranked fifth in the AHL with a 93.3 PK%.Looking Ahead:
The Sound Tigers hit the road this weekend to face two familiar foes. Jack Capuano's squad will travel to Manchester on Friday to battle the Monarchs and then head to Portland on Saturday for their third game in two weekends against the Pirates.
