--FRIDAY, OCTOBER 22, 2010 - SPRINGFIELD FALCONS VS. PORTLAND PIRATES--
The Springfield Falcons and Portland Pirates meet for the second consecutive week this time with the Pirates traveling to Springfield for the Friday night showdown. The Falcons lost to the Pirates in Portland this past Saturday by a score of 4-2. Tom Sestito and Nick Holden scored for the Falcons, while Cody Goloubef, Chad Kolarik, Matt Calvert and Ben Guite all added assists for Springfield.
The Pirates remain in first place in the Atlantic Division with a record of 4-1-0-0 good for eight points. Portland won their first four games of the regular season before losing to Bridgeport on Sunday afternoon by a score of 4-1. Rookie Luke Adam scored the Pirates' lone goal, while Marc-Andre Gragnani and Nick Crawford added assists.
The Pirates currently have two of the top three scorers in the AHL entering week three of the AHL season. Mark Mancari is second in the league in scoring with five goals and five assists for 10 points in five games, while rookie Luke Adam is third in the league in scoring with four goals and five assists for nine points in five games. Adam leads all AHL rookies in scoring thus far. Mancari is tied for the league lead in goals, including two markers against the Falcons last Saturday.
Goaltender Jhonas Enroth has started all five games for Portland posting a 2.41 goals against average and .927 save percentage.
--SUNDAY, OCTOBER 17, 2010 - SPRINGFIELD FALCONS AT MANCHESTER MONARCHS--
The Falcons and Monarchs meet again for the second consecutive weekend after Springfield went into Manchester on Sunday and beat the Monarchs 3-1.
The Monarchs are 2-2 on the young season after splitting a pair of games this past weekend. Manchester beat Providence in their home opener on Saturday, but fell to the Falcons on Sunday. David Meckler leads the Monarchs in scoring this year with three goals and two assists for five points in four games, while Dwight King is tied for Meckler for the club lead in goals with three.
Goaltender Erik Ersberg leads Manchester between the pipes with a 2.02 goals against average and .926 save percentage.

---SPRINGFIELD AT PROVIDENCE, OCTOBER 15 - W- 2-1---
October 15, 2010 - For the second time in a week, the Springfield Falcons went into Providence and defeated the Bruins at the Dunkin Donuts Center. Chad Kolarik, Michael Blunden, and Matt Calvert scored in the shootout while goaltender David LeNeveu stopped three of four shooters giving the Falcons a 2-1 shootout win. Springfield evened their record to 2-2 on the young season as they head to Portland on Saturday.
All the scoring in regulation on this night occurred in the first period. The Falcons opened the scoring just 4:04 into the first frame when Blunden scored on the power play, but Providence responded with a power play goal of their own at 10:44 of the opening period when Yury Alexandrov converted on the man advantage.

---SPRINGFIELD AT PORTLAND, OCTOBER 16 - L- 4-2---
October 16, 2010 - The Springfield Falcons lost to the Portland Pirates 4-2 on Saturday night at the Cumberland County Civic Center in Portland, Mane in the second game of their current three-game road trip through New England. The Falcons now have a record of 2-3 as they head into Manchester, New Hampshire for a 3 pm matinee against the Monarchs.
"Tonight was kind of the opposite as last night, last night we had some bounces go our way and tonight they didn't," said Falcons assistant captain Ben Guite. "I thought we were doing some good things, we had some chances, had the advantage in shots, but in the end they took advantage of their opportunities."
The Pirates entered the game a perfect 3-0 on the season and they continued their momentum early in the first period on Saturday. Portland's Luke Adam opened the scoring at 7:22 of the first period giving the Pirates a 1-0 lead, but Springfield's Tom Sestito evened the score at 1-1 when he scored his third goal of the year at 9:55 of the opening period assisted by Cody Goloubef and Chad Kolarik.
Midway through the opening period, Springfield's Kyle Neuber and Portland's Dennis McCauley dropped the gloves and picked up fighting majors.
Portland regained their lead at 12:21 of the first period when Mark Mancari scored his fourth goal of the year giving the Pirates a 2-1 lead through 20 minutes of play.
In the second period, McCauley extended Portland's lead to 3-1 when he scored his second goal of the year at 3:43 of the second period.
"I thought their third goal took some wind out of our sail," said Guite. "But, we hung in there, battled to the end, we kept applying pressure."
Springfield continued to pressure Portland's end in the second period outshooting the Pirates midway through the middle frame. Late in the second period, Springfield's Sestito and Portland's Maxime Legault went toe-to-toe for the game's second altercation.
Eight minutes into the third period, Portland took a three-goal cushion when Mancari scored his second marker of the game, but Springfield's Nick Holden cut the Falcons' deficit to 4-2 late in the final frame.

---SPRINGFIELD AT MANCHESTER, OCTOBER 17 - W- 3-1---
October 17, 2010 - The Springfield Falcons ended their three-game road trip with a solid 3-1 win in Manchester on Sunday afternoon at the Verizon Wireless Arena. Trevor Frischmon, Cody Goloubef and Tyler Murovich all scored for the Falcons while goaltender Dan Taylor stopped 34 of 35 shots on goal earning the game's first star. The Falcons won two of three games on the weekend and sit in second place in the Atlantic Division.
The Falcons got off to a fast start in the first period when Frischmon scored his first goal of the year at 11:28 of the first period assisted by Kyle Neuber giving the Falcons a 1-0 lead. Neuber and Manchester's Justin Johnson dropped the gloves in the first period with each player picking up fighting majors.
The Falcons expanded their lead to 2-0 in the second period when rookie Goloubef scored his first AHL/Pro goal at 10:18 of the middle frame assisted by Chris Francis and Matt Calvert.
Entering the third period with their two-goal cushion, the Falcons built a three-goal advantage when Murovich scored his first marker of the season when he slid a wrister past Erik Ersberg. Grant Clitsome and Frischmon added assists on Murovich's first goal of the year.

PLAYER NOTES:
The Springfield Falcons won two of three games this past weekend taking four of a possible six points on a three-game road trip through New England. The Falcons beat the Providence Bruins 2-1 in a shootout on Friday night for their second win in Providence this year. The Falcons win back on October 8 snapped a 10-game losing streak for the Falcons at Providence going 0-8-2-0 in that span. Springfield's last win in Providence before October 8 was March 28, 2008. The Falcons also beat the Manchester Monarchs 3-1 on Sunday snapping an eight-game losing streak in Manchester going 0-8-0-0 in that span. The last win in Manchester for Springfield before Sunday was back on October 19, 2008.
Rookie Chris Francis made his pro debut on Saturday night in Portland. Francis collected his first pro point on Sunday in Manchester assisting on Cody Goloubef's goal.
Rookie defenseman Cody Goloubef scored his first pro goal on Sunday afternoon in Manchester, the eventual game-winning marker.
Goaltender Dan Taylor earned his second win of the year on Sunday in Manchester earning the game's first star with 34 saves. Taylor leads the Falcons in wins (2), goals against average (2.35) and save percentage (.929).
The Falcons have had seven players make their pro debuts this year including John Moore, David Savard, Matt Calvert, Tomas Kubalik, Theo Ruth, Cody Goloubef, and Chris Francis.
