In the standings: The Sound Tigers have a record of 16-16-1-4 and are in fifth place in the East Division. They've pulled to within two points of fourth place Albany.

Nielsen closing in on record: Frans Nielsen extended his points streak to 11 games this week. He entered Monday's action with a chance to tie the franchise record of 12 set by Jeff Hamilton last season.

Dubielewicz strong in return: Goaltender Wade Dubielewicz returned to action for the first time on more than a month. He made 33 saves on 34 regulation and overtime shots against Philadelphia on Wednesday, and allowed just one goal on four shootout chances to help the Sound Tigers to a 2-1 win over the Phantoms. He made 38 saves on 40 Hershey shots on Saturday. Dubielewicz kicked aside 41 of 44 against Providence (including six in OT). He stopped four of five shootout opportunities against the Bruins, but suffered a hard luck loss.

Hot line: The line of Nielsen, Robert Nilsson and Jeff Tambellini has been on fire. Each member of the trio had a goal and two assists in Saturday's 5-2 win over Hershey.

Strong PK: Bridgeport's penalty kill, at 89.8 percent, is tops in the league.

Nighthawks reunion: Several former New Haven Nighthawks were honored during a special pregame ceremony on Sunday. Among those on hand were original Nighthawks from the 1972-73 team, Glen "Chico" Resch and Bobby Nystrom, the latter of whom went on to win four Stanley Cups with the Islanders. The stars signed autographs for fans.

Player of the week nominee

The Bridgeport Sound Tigers nominate left wing Jeff Tambellini for the CCM/Vector AHL Player of the Week award. Tambellini had two goals and two assists in three games this past week. He registered a goal and two assists in Saturday's 5-2 win over division rival Hershey on Saturday, scored a goal in regulation of a 4-3 shootout loss to Providence on Sunday, and also had a shootout goal in a 2-1 win over Philadelphia last Wednesday.
