SOUND TIGERS WEEKLY SPOTLIGHT

CODY RUDKOWSKY

Goalie - Catches: Left

Height: 6'1'' Weight: 220 lbs

Born: July 21, 1978 in Willingdon, Alberta

Signed a professional tryout contract with the Sound Tigers on January 6th.

Do you have any superstitions? I like to do everything on a game day the same way for each game. I leave the locker room at the exact same time each game and I also like to lay my stick in front of me while I'm sitting in my stall on the floor before each period.

What food do you tend to eat on a game day? I eat pasta, broccoli and chicken before every game; those are my favorites.

What other sports did you play as a kid? What are your best memories of playing those sports? I played everything-- basketball, volleyball, baseball, track and field and golf. I went to a small school, so if you were an athletic kid, no matter how good you were, you were going to be playing each sport. The best memory I have was my high school hosted our annual basketball tournament, and we won.

You were the ECHL Goalie of the Month in November, you've been named a starter for that league's all-star game and now you're off to a great start with the Sound Tigers; what's the secret to your success? When I was younger, I would concentrate on every little detail of my play, and it weighed on me, but now I don't let things bother as much. I just try to go out there and play to the best of my ability, and whatever happens....happens.

What does your off-season training consist of? I really concentrate on foot speed and flexibility. Plyometrics are important for me because I need to have strong legs to move around the crease. I also do a lot of cardio to have the endurance it takes to be able to last a whole game. I do some uppper-body weight training, but it's most important for me to have strong legs.

What would you be doing if you weren't playing hockey? Hopefully have the education and knowledge to run my own business. I don't know what type of business that is, but as long as I'm in charge, that works.!
