Two Rivermen Become Aces

Peoria, IL (January 10, 2006) - General Manager of Hockey Operations Kevin McDonald of the Peoria Rivermen, the proud primary affiliate of the St. Louis Blues, announced today that the Blues have reassigned left wing D. J. King and defenseman Doug Lynch from the Rivermen to the Alaska Aces of the ECHL.

King, 21, has missed only two of Peoria's 35 games so far this season. Measuring 6-3 and 230 pounds, he has scored three goals, recorded two assists, and now ranks second on the Rivermen in penalty minutes with 109. The St. Louis Blues drafted the left winger from Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, in the sixth round, 191st overall, of the 2002 National Hockey League (NHL) Entry Draft.

Lynch, 22, has appeared in 29 games for the Rivermen to this point in 2005-06. The 6-3, 214-pound defenseman has registered two assists and 57 minutes in penalties in those 29 AHL tilts. Originally selected by the Edmonton Oilers in the second round, 43rd overall, in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, the native of North Vancouver, British Columbia, was traded to the St. Louis Blues on August 2, 2005, along with defensemen Eric Brewer and Jeff Woywitka in exchange for defenseman Chris Pronger.

The Rivermen are a proud new member of the AHL. Founded in 1936, the AHL now serves as the primary development league for all 30 National Hockey League teams and is celebrating its 70th anniversary season in 2005-06.
