DES MOINES, IA - The Iowa Stars and the Cleveland Barons met Tuesday night at Wells Fargo Arena, with the Stars posting a 3-0 shutout victory. The whitewash was Iowa's third such victory of the season.
After a scoreless first period, Junior Lessard, the reigning AHL Player of the Week, registered his 11th goal of the season at 13:05 of the second period. It was the seventh straight Iowa Stars goal that Lessard factored in, scoring four goals and three assists. Lessard posted five points in Saturday's win: (2/3/5). Lessard now leads Iowa with 12 goals.
Loui Eriksson gave the Stars a 2-0 lead about five minutes later, with Toby Petersen picking up the assist. For Eriksson, it was his fifth point in three games and his eighth point in six games: 6(3/5/8). Lessard notched his second goal of the game into an empty Cleveland goal to seal the victory at 18:46 of the third. The goal was his eighth point in three games: 8(5/3/8).
Petersen's two assists gives him six points in his last three games: 3(2/4/6).
Stars goaltender Dan Ellis made 30 saves en route to his first shutout of the season. The Stars now have three team shutouts, with Mike Smith laying claim to the other two.

NEXT GAME: The Iowa Stars are in Houston for a pair of games on Thursday and Friday. Iowa returns home for a 7:05 PM tilt against Cleveland this Saturday, January 14th. The Iowa Stars and the Iowa State Cyclones hit the ice for a hockey doubleheader! Cyclone Hockey will face-off against the University of Minnesota-Duluth at 3:30 PM. Following that game, the Iowa Stars will welcome in the Cleveland Barons to the Wells Fargo Arena. Doors will open at 2:30 PM.
