Solar Bears Doubled up by Wings in 4-2 Loss

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Orlando Solar Bears (23-22-2-5), proud affiliate of the NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs and AHL's Toronto Marlies, gave up two power-play goals in the first period en route to a 4-2 loss to the Kalamazoo Wings (24-24-4-1) in front of 8,799 on Saturday night at the Amway Center.

The Wings took a 2-0 lead in the first period thanks to goals on the man advantage by Lane Scheidl at 11:43 and Tyler Shattock at 14:40.

The Solar Bears received a power-play goal of their own to get on the board in the second period when Patrick Watling sent a pass from the edge of the left circle through the slot to Eric Faille, who buried a shot past Joel Martin at 17:41.

Curtis Valk restored the two-goal edge for Kalamazoo at 1:26 of the third period when the puck deflected off of Ryan Massa and into the back of the net.

Rylan Schwartz pulled Orlando back to within one at 7:15 by knocking a rebound of Faille's past Martin, but Eric Kattelus sealed the game when he buried a loose puck past a scrambling Massa at 17:43.

Massa took the loss with 26 saves on 30 shots against; Martin picked up the win with 39 stops on 41 shots against.
