February 27, 2016 - ECHL (ECHL)
Adirondack Thunder News Release

TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: Tonight is the tenth meeting of the season between Adirondack and Reading and the first of a back-to-back set this weekend. The Thunder have controlled the season series to date with six wins from nine games, including a 3-1 record on home ice, and would clinch the season series with a win tonight. The two teams will meet just twice more after this evening, with the finale coming on March 13 at the Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid, NY.

WALL-E: Forward Terrence Wallin is riding a three-game point streak, extended with his first period goal in Wednesday's loss at Manchester. For the second consecutive game, Wallin redirected home a Michael Kirkpatrick shot from the point to open the scoring in the first period. Wallin, who picked up his first career ECHL point in last weekend's win over Elmira, now has four points (2-2-4) in eight games this season.

PATCH 22: Defenseman Patch Alber has piled up the assists as of late with eight helpers during the month of February. With multi-assist nights in his last two games, Alber has taken over the assist lead amongst Thunder defensemen with 20, passing teammate Ryan Constant (18). The Clifton Park native is also tied for second on the active roster with a +7 rating.

HORTON HEARS A LOU: Winger Louick Marcotte found the back of the net on Wednesday in Manchester, the third straight game in which the winger has scored. Marcotte had collected multi-goal games in his two previous games and now has five goals over his last three games. The Longueuil, PQ native leads all Thunder skaters with four multi-goal games on the season.

JUST DREW IT: Thunder netminder Drew Fielding made his return to the lineup in a big way last weekend as he turned aside 92 of 94 shots he faced, including a career high 49 in last Saturday's win over Elmira. Fielding suffered his first regulation loss since returning to Adirondack in a 28-save effort in Wednesday's narrow 3-2 defeat to the Monarchs. Fielding is 1-0 on the season against Reading, coming from a 32-save performance in a 3-2 Thunder win on January 3 at Santander Arena.

THE BROD CODE: Defenseman Mathieu Brodeur has found his name on the scoresheet in three of his past four games with an assist in each contest. The 6-6 blueliner has also recorded a +2 rating and 11 shots on goal during that span. On the season, the veteran defenseman has appeared in 51 games, tied with Ryan Constant for the most on the Adirondack blueline.

SHORTHANDED SUCCESS: Adirondack's penalty kill unit has been on fire in the second half of their season and the Thunder have moved into the ECHL's top ten in penalty killing percentage at 86.2%, good for fifth in the league. Bolstered by a stretch of 20 perfect penalty killing efforts from their last 24 games, including a 1-for-1 effort in Manchester, the Thunder have vaulted 14 spots in the league standings from 19th, where they sat in early January. The Thunder are also second in the league with an 87.5% penalty kill percentage on the road.
