Last Night

Vladimir Nikiforov scored what proved to be the game winner and Matt Carey provided a goal and an assist as the host Mallards ripped off three unanswered third period goals to defeat the Rush 4-1.

Double Dip

The Mallards tonight bid for a sweep of their two-game weekend series with the Rush.

Race

With last night's win the Mallards moved one point ahead of the idle Indy Fuel into third place in the ECHL's Midwest Division and ninth place in the Western Conference. The Mallards are three points behind the Colorado Eagles, who hold the eighth and final playoff spot in the conference. The Mallards have a game in hand on the Eagles.

Upswing

The Mallards have won four of their last five games.

Home Sweet Home

The Mallards tonight play the fourth game of a seven-game homestand- their longest of the season. They have have started the homestand 2-1-0 and have also won four of their last five home tilts.

Finishing Kick

After outscoring the Rush 3-0 in the third period last night, the Mallards have now outscored the opposition 52-45 in the third this season. The third is the only period in which the Mallards have outscored their foes this year. Over the first two periods they have allowed 99 goals while scoring 84 times.

Between the Pipes

Brody Hoffman has made eight straight starts in goal and has appeared in 14 of the Mallards' last 16 games.

Leader of the Pack

Carey leads the Mallards in goals (16) and has produced 16 points (eight goals and eight assists) in his last 12 games.

Rook

Matt Neal, who scored last night and has now recorded five points (one goal and four assists) in his last five games, not only leads the Mallards in points (35) but also ranks tenth among ECHL rookies in point-scoring.

O from D

Three of the Mallards' top six point producers- Mike Monfredo (29), Guillaume Gelinas (27) and Austin Coldwell (24)- are defensemen. Monfredo is tied for fifth among ECHL defensemen in assists (24). Gelinas recorded seven points (three goals and four assists) in his last seven games before being recalled by the American Hockey League's Iowa Wild last Saturday.

Special Teams

The Mallards went 1-for-2 on the power play last night while Rush went 0-for-2. The Mallards now rank ninth in the ECHL on the power play (17.5 percent) and fourteenth on the penalty kill (84.6).

Head to Head

The Mallards and Rush close out their six-game season series tonight. The Mallards have gone 4-1-0 against Rapid City this year. The Mallards have won each of their first three home games against the Rush. They have gone 25-12-3 all-time against Rapid City and have posted a 15-4-1 home record against the Rush.

Milestones

Darren McMillan has played three hundred ninety-five career games for the Mallards. He ranks third in team history.

Trade Winds

The Mallards yesterday traded forward Miles Koules to the Wichita Thunder for future considerations.
