Monarchs Game Day Capsule
February 27, 2016 - ECHL (ECHL)
Manchester Monarchs News Release
HEAD-TO-HEAD - The Monarchs and Admirals will face each other for the ninth and final time during the regular season tonight from Scope Arena. The Monarchs head into the game with a 5-1-1-1 record against the Admirals, but have dropped the last three meetings between the teams by a combined score of 14-7.
WHERE WE STAND - The Monarchs (73 points) remain eight points clear of the Adirondack Thunder for the top spot in the East Division, and now lead the Toledo Walleye by two points for Eastern Conference bragging rights. Manchester comes into tonight's game 24 points ahead of the Norfolk Admirals who find themselves in 13th place in the Eastern Conference.
AGAINST THE GRAIN - Despite taking only eight penalty minutes last night, Norfolk averages the second-most penalty minutes a game, taking 17.56 PIMs/game. The Monarchs will look to bounce back and take advantage of the Admirals' lack of discipline with the ECHL's 5th ranked road power play (20.9%) and Norfolk's 20th ranked home penalty kill (81.2%).
GWGS - Alex Roach leads all Monarchs with four game-winning-goals this season and is in second place in the ECHL amongst defensemen in game-winners.
A PATSCH ON THE BACK - Ryan Patsch jumped right in for the Monarchs last night, scoring his first ECHL goal in his Monarchs debut. In his career, Patsch has played six ECHL games between the Monarchs and Elmira Jackals. Patsch is no stranger to finding the twine, as the left-shot netted 74 goals in parts of three seasons with the Danbury Titans (FHL).
PERIOD 3 - The Monarchs will look to rediscover their scoring touch in the third period, as the team is tied for first in the league with 65 third period goals and Norfolk is last in the ECHL, giving up 66 final frame goals.
ROAD SHOOTING - Number aren't everything, but a good indication for a Monarchs victory is if the team outshoots their opponent on the road. Entering tonight, the Monarchs are 15-2-0-1 when outshooting their opponent on the road and are 2-7-0-0 when being outshot away from the Jungle.
