Colorado Eagles News Release

(Loveland, CO) -- The Colorado Eagles completed the three-game series sweep of Alaska, defeating the Aces 5-2 on Saturday. Forwards Jesse Mychan and Johnny Lazo each notched two goals in the victory.

The Eagles got on the board first at the 6:57 mark of the first period when forward Ludwig Karlsson stuck with a play and poked the puck out from underneath Aces goaltender Jacob DeSerres to give Colorado a 1-0 advantage.

Mychan gave the Eagles a 2-0 lead taking a great feed from Karlsson and placing the puck in the net from the top of the circle with 6:15 to play in the opening frame. Colorado's 2-0 lead held into the first intermission.

The Aces broke up the shut out at the 8:08 mark of the second period as Aces forward Garet Hunt tipped in a shot from Ryan Tesink to cut the Eagles lead to one at 2-1.

Alaska scored their second goal late in the period when forward Peter Sivak wired a shot from the right-wing past Eagles goaltender Kris Lazaruk. Sivak's goal tied the game at 2-2 with 1:16 to play in the middle frame. The Eagles and Aces headed into second intermission still tied 2-2.

Lazo found a short-handed opportunity, as he created a turnover and a subsequent breakaway, beating DeSerres five-hole and giving the Eagles a 3-2 lead at the 4:14 mark of the third.

Colorado added two empty-netters before time ran out. Lazo scored the first at the 18:50 mark of the third from center ice. Then Mychan battled to give the Eagles a 5-2 lead with one second left in the game from the low-slot to give Colorado their fourth consecutive win.

The Eagles continue their homestand when the Fort Wayne Komets head to town next Wednesday. Puck drop is at 7:05 MST.
