Siani, Bats Top Charlotte 5-4 on Tuesday Night

Louisville, KY - A grand slam by centerfielder Michael Siani led the Louisville Bats (4-11) to their second consecutive win, beating the Charlotte Knights (8-8) 5-4 on Tuesday night at Louisville Slugger Field.

Following a scoreless first inning, the Bats got on the board in the bottom of the second with four walks to drive in their first run. Siani stepped up to the plate next and smashed a grand slam into right field, giving the Bats an early lead of 5-0. The grand slam was the first since of the season for Louisville.

Bats starter Brandon Williamson (1-1, 4.42), was lights out in his fourth outing of the year, tossing six shutout innings, giving up just three hits with three walks and two strikeouts. Williamson's quality start marks the first for Louisville starters as the effort earned him his first win of the season.

The Bats continued to threaten, getting runners on base, but were never able to capitalize.

Charlotte scored its first two runs in the top of the seventh, following with a run in each of the next two innings, getting within one at 5-4.

Although Charlotte threatened to score once more in the top of the ninth, Louisville reliever Alan Busenitz got Louisville out of the jam, securing the 5-4 win and earning his first save of the season.

Righty Randy Wynne (0-1, 5.40) is expected take the mound for Louisville in the second game of the series on Wednesday, April 19th at 11:05 am E.T., facing off against fellow right-hander A.J. Alexy (0-2, 12.46) for Charlotte.
