Omaha Storm Chasers News Release

OMAHA, Neb. - In front of the third largest crowd of the season at 8,298, the Omaha Storm Chasers (60-61) rallied back from a 10-3 deficit they faced entering the bottom of the eighth and had the tying run in scoring position with the bases loaded in the ninth with the score 10-8, but Gorkys Hernandez flied out to deep left to send the Chasers back below .500.

Sacramento jumped all over Storm Chasers starter Chris Dwyer, scoring seven runs in the first four frames on eight hits, four walks and an Omaha error. In his previous four starts since the All-Star Break Dwyer had allowed a total of six earned runs over 25.0 innings, but equaled that amount in only 3.1 innings for his second shortest outing on the year. In the 23 games since the Break, Omaha starters have given up more than three earned runs only three times.

The River Cats were led by centerfielder Shane Peterson who had two homers on the night, a three-run bomb to knock Dwyer out of the game in the fourth and a two-run shot to give Sacramento all the offense they would need in the eighth when he stretched it to a 9-3 lead. The five RBI for Peterson matched a season-high for individual RBI against Omaha in 2013.

Paulo Orlando led Omaha with three hits on the night, including a solo homer in the second for his first career long ball at Werner Park in 66 career games. Orlando has reached base in nine of his 13 at-bats in this series, with seven hits and two walks, to raise his average from .254 to .272 in just three games. Anthony Seratelli had a pair of doubles in the game, giving him four hits in the two games he has played since returning from his ankle injury, and in his last 19 games he has hit .383 (23-for-60).

The loss is the first time this season Omaha has scored eight or more runs and suffered the defeat, as they won their first 17 games this season when reaching that run mark. In the series finale tomorrow, left-hander Everett Teaford (4-3, 2.92) steps to the mound after having his 21 starts for Omaha without a loss streak snapped in his last outing at Salt Lake. Teaford will square off with River Cats right-hander Travis Banwart (7-5, 4.73) with first pitch set for 2:05 p.m.
