Reno Aces News Release
RENO, Nev.- The Reno Aces fell just a run short after mounting a comeback on Saturday night, suffering an 8-7 loss to the Memphis Redbirds at Aces Ballpark.
Reno fell into an early hole, as Memphis posted seven runs across the first three innings off Aces starter Garrett Mock.
The first four Aces batters at the plate reached base in the fourth inning, as the Aces cut their deficit to 7-3. An RBI double by Tyler Bortnick in the seventh brought the Aces within three, before Memphis tacked on another run in the eighth off reliever Evan Marshall.
The Aces made things interesting in the final two frames, as they recorded another three-run inning. Brad Snyder hit his seventh home run of the season to bring the Aces within two, before Reno pushed across another run on a Tony Campana groundout.
Reno had runners at the corners with just one out in the ninth, but the threat was ended with a strike out and fly out.
Campana extended his hitting streak to 10 games, tying his season high. He finished 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI on the night. Bortnick, Snyder and Ed Easley had three hits apiece.
Mock was charged with his seventh loss of the season, allowing seven earned runs on six hits through 2.1 innings. He walked four and struck out one in the outing.
The series wraps up Sunday afternoon at Aces Ballpark, as Reno looks to secure its sixth series victory of the season. RHP Trevor Cahill (0-2, 8.38 ERA) will get the nod for Reno in continuation of his Major League Rehabilitation Assignment, while the Redbirds will counter with RHP Boone Whiting (4-4, 4.36 ERA). First pitch is set for 1:05 p.m. for another Renown Children's Hospital Family Funday, featuring baseball bingo.
Tickets are available for tomorrow's game, and all remaining home games at RenoAces.com, by calling (775) 334-7000 or by visiting the Aces Ballpark Ticket Office.
