
Baker, Blasts Lift Topes over Tacoma

[John Baker blasted two home runs during his 4-for-4 day from the plate with five RBI, three runs, and a double powering Albuquerque (66-56) to a 12-5 win in the series finale against the Rainiers (64-58). The Isotopes have tallied multiple home runs in three consecutive games and have gone deep in four straight.
Brian Wilson made his second Major League rehab appearance with the Isotopes, entering in the seventh frame. The righty struck out the final batter he faced during his perfect inning of work tossing 11 pitches, seven for strikes. He has retired all six batters he faced over two appearances on his rehab assignment with the Isotopes.
Chili Buss got the scoring started with an RBI single in the first. He later drove in three runs on a double in the eighth, bringing his season total to 86 RBI tying Wilmer Flores of Las Vegas for most in the Pacific Coast League.
Alex Castellanos extended his hitting streak to four games with a single in the third. He then stole his 18th base of the season with Matt Angle batting and moved into a second place tie with Buss for most on the club. Scott Van Slyke brought him home on a base knock up the middle.
In the fourth, John Baker belted a long ball extending Albuquerque's lead to 3-0. The catcher did it again with a three-run shot in the sixth as the Isotopes seized the lead 6-4 after Tacoma went up by one with a two-run top half of the frame.
Justin Sellers drilled his second homer in three games and fourth of the season in the seventh. Elian Herrera went 3-for-4 with two runs and RBI and a walk. He has 29 multi-hit games on the year matching Matt Angle for most on the club.
Red Patterson did not allow a run through his first four innings of work. He got touched up for two runs, one earned, in the fifth leading up to his departure. He went four-plus innings allowing two runs on four hits. He also walked five and struck out four.
Kelvin De La Cruz (2-1, 3.17) entered in the fifth with the bases loaded. He fanned the first two hitters he faced and got Nate Tenbrink to ground out, stranding his three inherited runners. He went two innings surrendering two runs on three hits, earning the win. Anthony Ortega finished the game for Albuquerque pitchers. He tossed two innings of one-run ball on three hits and struck out two.
The Isotopes open their only regular-season series of 2013 against the Salt Lake Bees tomorrow at 6:35 PM. Angel Castro (7-3, 3.65) and Barry Enright (7-5, 6.12) of Salt Lake will go head-to-head in game one. Catch all of the game action with Josh Suchon on the call.
