Royals Top Checkers and Titans to Post Best Home Record

The Reading Royals regrouped at home after matching high season high four-game winless slide. The Royals topped the Checkers and Titans at home on Friday and Saturday night, allowing just one goal through the weekend. The Royals are now an ECHL best 13-1-2 at home in the Sovereign Center. Currently, the Royals are tied for fourth in the Northern Division with the Johnstown Chiefs.

The Royals take to the road for the first of three games on the road. Reading is winless in their last seven contests away from the Sovereign Center and fallen to 7-11-4 this season on the road. Saturday, the Royals and Chiefs do battle for the third time this month. The Chiefs blanked the Royals two weeks earlier in Johnstown, 2-0. Reading then travels to Roanoke for the only meeting with the Express in Roanoke this season. Reading is 2-0-0 against the Express this season.

Friday, January 16 vs. Charlotte Sovereign Center 7:05PM

GAME NOTES: In their only meeting this year, the Royals blanked the Checkers, 4-0. Peter Hamerlik and Terry Denike combined for 24-saves to post the Royals third shutout this season. Judd Medak, Graig Mischler, Lars Pettersen and Brad Church accounted for the Royals markers. It was the first shutout for Reading at home since the home opener on October 18, 2003 (Adam Hauser).

Saturday, January 17 vs. Trenton Sovereign Center 7:05PM

GAME NOTES: The Royals moved to 4-1 versus Trenton this year, with a convincing 4-1 victory over their Northern Division foe. Four different skaters notched goals for Reading, and Cody Rudkowsky stopped 35 shots for his 14th win of the year. The Royals and Titans meet in Reading on February 11 at 7:05 p.m.

Saturday, January 24 @ Johnstown War Memorial 7:00PM

GAME NOTES: Home ice has been important in the Keystone Cup Series this season. Both the Royals and Chiefs are each 2-0 in their home barns. The Chiefs stopped the Royals 2-0 on January 10 to even up the season series. The Royals and Chiefs play each other every Saturday in the month of January with the Chiefs hosting three of the four meetings (excluding Jan. 17).

Sunday, January 25 @ Roanoke Roanoke Civic Center 4:05PM

GAME NOTES: The Reading Royals meet the Roanoke Express for the final time this season with their only visit to the Roanoke Civic Center. Reading and Roanoke have met twice this season. The Royals won back-to-back games on December 5-6 in the Sovereign Center in Reading. It was the first Royals wins at home in two years. The Royals are 4-10-1 versus the Express in their history.

#15 Graig Mischler 2GP TEAM RECORD: 2-0-0 STATS: 1-1-2 (+3)

Mischler recorded a goal and an assist in the Royals 4-0 shutout win against Charlotte Friday night. He was held scoreless on Saturday but was +1 against arch rival Trenton.

Cody Rudkowsky stopped 108 out of 114 shots this weekend in three tough losses for the Royals. Rudkowsky tied a season high 44-save performance in a loss in Wheeling on January 9. He ranks third in goals against average and tied for third in save percentage in the ECHL.
