Beaumont, TX (January 19, 2004) – The Texas Wildcatters ended the week 1-2-0 and will head into the All Star break with a 12-25-3 record. On Tuesday, the Texas Wildcatters concluded their six-game West Coast road trip in Fresno, defeating the Falcons in overtime 4-3. Lukas Smital scored the only goal in the first period on a 5-on-3 Texas power play for his 13th goal of the year. After Fresno tied the game, Wildcatters forward Tony Lawrence threw the puck towards the net and it deflected off a Falcons player past Fresno goaltender Terry Friessen for Lawrence's ninth goal of the season. With seven seconds remaining in the second period, Smital turned on the jets and blew by a Falcons defender, scoring his second goal of the game and tying the score at three after two periods of play. Aaron MacInnis ended the game 33 seconds into the extra session with a blistering slap shot from the top of the face-off circle to give the Wildcatters their second overtime win of the year.

On Friday, the Wildcatters hosted the Louisiana IceGators for the first of four consecutive meetings, falling 3-2. The lone goal of the period was Passmore's ninth of the year. Louisiana came back in the third with three goals in the first six minutes of the period to take the lead and ultimately the win. Mark Scally had an ECHL season high 26 saves in the third period, finishing the game with 49 saves in the loss.

Saturday, the Wildcatters hosted the IceGators for the second time in as many nights, losing the bout 4-3. Wildcatters' netminder Davis Parley turned away 27 of the 29 shots he faced in the opening period to set the ECHL season high for saves in the first period. The Wildcatters responded to the IceGators' three-goal lead at the 4:55 mark of the third period as Brian Passmore tallied a power-play goal from Mike McKay and John Campbell. Texas cut the IceGators lead to one at the 12:52 mark of the third as John Campbell took a pass from goaltender Davis Parley and raced the length of the ice to record his second goal of the season. However, the Wildcatters were unable to add another goal on the scoreboard as they fell to the IceGators 4-3. After the buzzer, Louisiana's Milt Mastad speared Aaron MacInnis, leading to a bench-clearing brawl. In all, six fights took place, including one between goaltenders Parley and Derek Gustafson.
