Royals Ready To Score 'Goals For The Cure'
January 8, 2008 - ECHL (ECHL)
Reading Royals News Release
Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL and the Reading Eagle today announced a joint initiative to raise funds in the continuing effort to find a cure for breast cancer. Under the 'Goals For The Cure' program, Reading area individuals and businesses are encouraged to pledge a certain amount of money for each goal scored by the Royals in the "Pink In The Rink" game presented by Boscov's Department Stores on Friday, February 1, 2008 against the Johnstown Chiefs at 7:05pm. Fixed amount donations will also be accepted in the program. Every dollar raised by the 'Goals for fhe Cure Program' will be donated directly to the beneficiaries of the PIR game, Breast Cancer Support Services of Berks County and the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
Businesses and individuals interested in participating in the 'Goals For The Cure' Program can do so by simply determining how much they would like to pledge (either for each goal scored by the Royals in the PIR game or a fixed amount) and confirming their pledge by completing and submitting the form that is available on the Royals' website (http://www.royalshockey.com/promotions/GoalsForTheCure-2008-01-08.asp). There are no minimums or limits on the amount that can be pledged under the program, and all participants in the 'Goals for the Cure' Program will receive special recognition at the Sovereign Center during the PIR game. More information on the 'Goals for the Cure' pledge program can be obtained by contacting Royals' Account Representative Curtis Tousant (610-898-7218).
On February 1, during the PIR game, the Sovereign Center will be resplendent in pink, as the Royals' organization, business partners and fans celebrate advancements in the treatment of breast cancer, while remembering and honoring persons who have been impacted by this illness. The game will be played on pink ice, and the Royals will don pink jerseys, which will be auctioned after the game with the net proceeds going to BCSS and BCRF. The game will also be played with commemorative PIR pucks, which will be autographed and auctioned after the game as well. All are invited to participate in the PIR initiative by purchasing a "Pink in the Rink Package," which is available at all nine Boscov's Department Stores in the Reading area, as well as the Royals' office. The PIR Package costs just $25 and includes a ticket to the game and a commemorative pink t-shirt, featuring the Royals' PIR logo. Also, fans can purchase a collector's edition PIR hat or t-shirt at Boscov's stores and the Royals' Fan-Attic at 645 Penn Street (610-898-7221).
The Royals continue a four game road trip tonight at 7:00pm when the team will face the Dayton Bombers at the E.J. Nutter Center in Dayton, Ohio. The Royals return home on Friday night against the Wheeling Nailers when the organization will host Teacher Appreciation Night and the first 1500 fans will receive an 'R-Team/R-Town' note cube. The game night broadcast tonight will kick off with the pre-game warm up show at 6:30 pm on ESPN Radio 1240 in Ephrata, as well as on the internet through the Royals website (www.royalshockey.com). Streaming video is available on a pay per view basis through the B2 Networks.
