Chiefs Owner To Appear On Versus Tonight

Johnstown, PA - The Johnstown Chiefs announced today that majority owner Neil Smith will be the color commentator tonight on the cable network VERSUS coverage of the Detroit Red Wings/ Colorado Avalanche game.

Smith has done television work for VERSUS and on TSN (Canada) in the past and this season has been a fixture on the NHL Network's nightly program "On the Fly," where they recap NHL action. The NHL Network is now available in the United States on most cable providers and on DirecTV. Smith has also been a television broadcaster for the last six ECHL all-star games.

Smith was the General Manager of the New York Rangers from 1989-2000. He was responsible for making one of the biggest trades in NHL history when the Rangers acquired Mark Messier from the Edmonton Oilers. His greatest accomplishment was when the Rangers won the Stanley Cup in 1994. Smith has been the majority of the Chiefs since June of 2002.

The Chiefs are back in action Friday night when they travel to Elmira. Saturday, they visit Reading. Both game games at 7:00 p.m.

The Chiefs are back on War Memorial ice on Friday, January 18 when they host the Dayton Bomber at 7:00 p.m. It is guaranteed win night! If the Chiefs lose the game all fans in attendance will receive a voucher to a game to be determined.
