Ice Pilots Trade Sgroi to Johnstown in Exchange for Cohen

PENSACOLA, FL - President Greg Schuh and Head Coach John Marks announced the Ice Pilots have sent forward Mike Sgroi to the Johnstown Chiefs in exchange for forward Michael Cohen.

Cohen, who is playing his first full season in the ECHL, has skated in 30 games for the Chiefs, scoring five goals and collecting ten assists for 15 points with 22 penalty minutes. The 22 year old Williamsville, NY native was sixth on Johnstown in scoring.

"Michael is a first year player out of Canisius College and was teammates with Tim Songin. He brings speed and offensive abilities to our hockey club," said Marks. "I felt it was in the best interest for the Ice Pilots organization and for our players in the long run. In order to improve, sometimes you have to move a good player to acquire a good player."

The 5'9'', 185 pound forward played four years at Canisius College in Buffalo, NY. He played in 134 games, scoring 42 goals with 58 assists for 100 points. Upon finishing his collegiate career, Cohen skated in seven games for Reading last season.

In addition, the Ice Pilots have waived forward Konstantin Kalmikov and defenseman Kevin Harris has returned to his team in Knoxville. In 23 games, Kalmikov scored four goals with three assists for seven points. Harris participated in four games, going pointless
