Soares returns as Keith heads back to Peoria

Alaska Aces News Release

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Right winger Cam Keith has been recalled from loan by Alaska's AHL affiliate in Peoria, while ECHL all-star left winger Josh Soares has been assigned to the Aces by the Rivermen and should be in the lineup when Alaska meets Stockton tomorrow night.

Soares, who will turn 26 next month, appeared in five games with Peoria, scoring in his first game after being called up on December 14 and adding a goal and an assist in a 3-2 loss at Iowa December 30. In 30 games with the Aces, only twice did Soares go back-to-back games without a goal, scoring 14 to go along with 16 assists. He scored the game-tying goal with 2:01 left in an eventual 4-3 OT win at Idaho November 9 and also scored twice, including the game-winner, in a 5-3 victory five days later over Fresno. Despite his eight-game absence from the Alaska lineup, Soares still ranks 10th among ECHL rookies with 30 points, and will represent the Aces at the 2008 ECHL All-Star Game in Stockton, Calif., on January 23.

In his second tour of duty with the Aces, Keith scored five goals and assisted on 12 others in 29 games. He is perhaps best known for scoring the game-winning, and series-ending, goal in triple overtime of the 2006 West Division Finals against Las Vegas. Keith appeared in two games earlier this year for the Rivermen after spending all of last season with Peoria, totaling 18 points (6g-12a) in 79 games.

The Aces have lost a pair of overtime games and once in regulation against the Thunder this season, but are still 13-2-2 overall in a series that began in 2005. Stockton's 4-3 overtime victory December 12 marked its first ever triumph at Sullivan Arena. All regular season games are broadcast live on Alaska's flagship station, AM 750 KFQD, with coverage beginning 15 minutes prior to the opening face-off.
