January 8, 2008 - ECHL (ECHL)
Elmira Jackals News Release
ELMIRA, NY - The Elmira Jackals, proud member of the ECHL, announced today defenseman Tomas Kudelka has been reassigned by the Ottawa Senators to the Jackals from their American Hockey League affiliate in Binghamton. Kudelka's return to Elmira is the third blue liner added to the club's once thin ranks in the last twenty-four hours.
On Monday, the Jackals agreed to terms with former Rockford IceHogs standout Matt Gens and signed 6'7', 245-pound Jeff State to an ECHL contract.
Kudelka, a 5th round (136th overall) pick by Ottawa in 2005 NHL Entry Draft, makes his third return to the Jackals in a season split between Elmira and Binghamton. In 11 games with the Jackals, Kudelka has scored twice, including once on the power play, and added six assists for eight points with six penalty minutes and a -6 rating. Both of his goals have been game-winners. With the Senators, Kudelka has appeared in 18 contests with one goal (power play) for his only point with a -6 rating and two penalty minutes.
With the arrival of Kudelka, the anticipated activation of Luke Fritshaw, and Gens and State joining the Jackals, head coach Steve Martinson will have eight defensemen at his disposal as Elmira opens a four-game home stand at First Arena Friday night.
