Royals Draft Lukas Kralik in CHL Import Draft

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Royals are proud to announce that the team selected center Lukas Kralik out of the Czech Republic in today's Canadian Hockey League (CHL) Import Draft.

The Royals took the 6-2, 187lb centerman with the 36th overall pick in a draft that teams from all three leagues (Ontario Hockey League, Quebec Junior Hockey League and Western Hockey League) in the CHL participated in.

"We are very happy with the selection of Lukas," General Manager and Head Coach Marc Habscheid said. "He is a big forward who comes highly recommended to us by our contacts in Europe."

The Unicov, CZE native has spent the majority of last season with the HC Olomouc U20 team where he collected 14g-4a18 points in 33 games with 14 minutes in penalties. He began the season with HC Olomouc's U18 team where he competed in 8 games (3g+9a12 pts).

The 2009-10 season saw Kralik also split the season between HC Olomouc's U20 and U18 teams. This season he spent the lion's share of his time with the U18 team playing in 25 games collecting 13 goals and 16 assists for 29 points and earning 38 minutes in penalties. For the U20 team in the 2009-10 season he played in 15 games scoring five times and picking up four assists.

Kralik spent the previous three seasons (2006-07 through 2008-09) also with HC Olomouc's U18 team. Over that span he played in 75 games going for 39g+32a71 points and collecting 160 penalty minutes.

The 18-year-old has also represented the Czech Republic on the international stage. Most recently he was a member of their U18 team where he played in six games and notched an assist in the Ivan Hilinka Tournament in Dresden, Germany.
