Cougars Announce Tentative 2011-12 Regular Season Schedule

PRINCE GEORGE, BC - The Prince George Cougars announced their tentative 72 game Western Hockey League regular season schedule for the 2011-12 season, which is subject to change.

For the second consecutive year, the Cougars will open the season on the road in Kamloops, facing the Blazers on Saturday, September 24. The following weekend, the Cougars will entertain the Victoria Royals in the Cougars home opener on Friday, September 30, starting at 7:00pm. Of the 36 home games the Cougars will play at CN Centre, 14 of those will be played on Saturday nights, with 13 Friday night games, five Wednesday games and four on Tuesday nights.

The Cougars Teddy Bear and Toque Toss Game will be played on Saturday, December 17 against the Vancouver Giants, starting at 7:00pm.

Other highlights of the 2011-12 Cougars regular season include:

- 10 games against the Kamloops Blazers this season, the most against any Cougars opponent.

- The Cougars longest home-stand is eight games from February 24 - March 7.

- The longest road trip, 7 games, will see the Cougars face all six East Division teams and the Blazers from October 4 - 15.

- The Cougars face the defending Western Hockey League Champion Kootenay Ice on Tuesday, November 22 at CN Centre.

- The Cougars first trip to the United States will be November 11 @ Everett.

- The Cougars will play their first game in Victoria on January 31, 2012.

- The Cougars Christmas Break will be from December 18-27

- The Cougars hit the mid-way point of the season on Wednesday, December 28 vs. Calgary at CN Centre.

- The Cougars play a New Year's Day game in Kamloops.

The Cougars will play at total of 16 home games in the first half of the season, leaving 20 of the Cougars final 36 games of the season at home. The Cougars wrap up the season with a home-and-home series against the Blazers, starting Friday, March 16 in Kamloops. The Cougars and Blazers end the season the following night, Saturday, March 17, at CN Centre.

All Cougars home games start at 7:00pm.
