Prince George Cougars News Release

PRINCE GEORGE, BC - The Prince George Cougars are proud to announce the selection of 16-year old forward Marko Dano with the 60th overall selection in the 2011 CHL Import Draft.

Dano is a 5'11", 174 pound left-handed shooting forward from Trencin, Slovakia, who played this past season for HC Dukla Trencin. With the Under-18 Trencin squad, Dano posted 13 goals and 17 points in nine games. With Trencin's Under-20 team, Dano had 18 goals and 22 assists for 40 points in only 27 games. Dano played in 8 games for Trencin's senior team, adding one assist. Dano played for Slovakia at the 2011 IIHF World Under-18 Championship in Germany, posting one goal and three assists for four points in six games, while posting 14 penalty minutes.

Dano does not turn 17 until November 30, which makes him eligible for the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. Dano's father, Jozef, scored five goals and nine points in 12 games for Slovakia at three IIHF World Championships (1996, '97 & '99)

Earlier in the day, the Cougars swapped 2011 CHL Import Draft picks with the Saskatoon Blades and added a third round selection in the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft in the deal.
