With Uher and Kalus Returning, Chiefs Trade Import Pick

Spokane Chiefs News Release

The Spokane Chiefs have traded their first round pick in the CHL Import Draft, 56th overall, to the Lethbridge Hurricanes in exchange for an eighth round selection in the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft.

Spokane could afford the opportunity to move their pick due to the fact that both Dominik Uher and Marek Kalus, both from the Czech Republic, will be returning to the Chiefs' roster next season. Canadian Hockey League rules allow a maximum of two import players on each roster.

Uher, who was selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the fifth round in last week's NHL Entry Draft, will return for his third season as a Chief. In 65 games last season, Uher scored 21 goals and 60 points, a 45 point increase from his rookie season. Uher was Spokane's first round pick in the CHL Import Draft in 2009.

Kalus, the Chiefs first round selection last year, will be entering his second season in Spokane. As a rookie, Kalus appeared in 22 games and scored four goals and eight points. He had three points, including two goals, in five playoff games.
