Calgary Hitmen Announce 2011-12 Regular Season Schedule

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen today released their 2011-12 Western Hockey League regular season schedule. The Hitmen will open their 17th season on the road Saturday, September 24th in Cranbrook against the Kootenay Ice.
The Hitmen will then visit the Lethbridge Hurricanes on September 30th before the Home Opener on Sunday, October 2nd against the Kootenay Ice. Game time is 2:00 p.m. at Scotiabank Saddledome.
Of the 36 Hitmen home games, 28 will be played the weekend with 11 on Fridays, three on Saturdays, and 14 Sundays.
Highlights include the 17th annual Petro-Canada Teddy Bear Toss on Sunday, December 4th against the Medicine Hat Tigers. Game time is 4:00 p.m. Petro-Canada is proudly owned by Suncor Energy.
The schedule also features a season high five game home stand from mid to late January. There will also be a pair of season long six game road trips; one in early November and another from late December to early January as the city welcomes the 2012 World Junior Hockey Championship.
Hitmen home games (Monday-Saturday) will start at 7:00 p.m. at Scotiabank Saddledome while Sunday games will be a mix of a new 4:00 p.m. puck drop along with the traditional 2:00 p.m. starts. The club has removed the 5:00 p.m. Sunday starts to better accommodate families and kids.
The Kootenay Ice will once again be the biggest Central Division rival of the Hitmen with eight meetings between the two. Calgary will face their other division rivals Edmonton, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat and Red Deer six times each.
Hitmen season ticket World Junior packages for the upcoming season are available now by calling Customer Service at 403-777-4646. Individual game tickets will go on sale in early September.
