The Saskatoon Blades made a last minute trade with the Prince George Cougars today to acquire their 30th pick in the first round. In exchange for moving up 30 spots, Saskatoon gave Prince George their first round pick (60th overall) in the 2011 CHL Import Draft and their 3rd Round Bantam Draft Pick in 2012.

With the acquired first round draft pick the Blades chose 18 year-old Russian Goalie Andrey Makarov. Makarov is 6'2", 195 lbs and last played for Lewiston MAINEiacs of the QMJHL. In the 2010-11 season Makarov played in 27 games with a 3.37 GAA and 0.89 SV%. Makarov was ranked fourth among goalies of the QMJHL on the fall rankings of the 2010-11 Central Scouting Rankings.

Blades Head Coach and General Manager Lorne Molleken released the following comment 'We are excited to add depth into this position. With Adam Morrison returning as an over-ager and all of our young goalies attending training camp, there will be a lot of competition in this position."

The Blades would like to welcome Andrey and his family to the organization!
