LAST WEEK'S HIGHLIGHTS

vs. Worcester: The Worcester IceCats spoiled the Monarchs season opener with a 3-2 win on Friday at the Verizon Wireless Arena. Right wing John Tripp had both goals in his Monarchs debut. Center Steve Kelly and defenseman Bryan Muir each had two assists. Goaltender Milan Hnilicka made 25 saves in his Monarchs debut. vs. Lowell: The Lowell Lock Monsters defeated the Monarchs on Saturday, 4-2, at the Verizon Wireless Arena after erasing a two-goal deficit late in the second period. Center Steve Kelly and right wing Dan Welch each had goals for the Monarchs, with Welch scoring his goal on a short-handed breakaway. Center Yanick Lehoux and left wing Noah Clarke each registered an assist in Saturday's game. Goaltender Milan Hnilicka stopped 18 of the 22 shots he faced.

TEAM NOTES

Center Steve Kelly has a nine-game point streak that dates back to last year. Kelly, who had two points in each of the Monarchs two games last weekend, has 15 points (2-13=15) during the streak that dates back to March 11, 2003, against the St. John's Maple Leafs.

Kelly, who entered the season at no. 2 on the Monarchs all-time scoring list, has 98 points (30-68=98) in 105 career games in a Monarchs uniform. No. 1on the Monarchs all-time scoring list is left wing Eric Healey, who scored 131 points (66-65=131) in 140 games played from 2001-03.

With his three assists last weekend, Kelly moved into the no. 1 spot on the Monarchs all-time assist list (68). He entered the season tied with Healey for the top spot with 65 assists.

Monarchs rookie defenseman Denis Grebeshkov celebrated his 20th birthday on Saturday, October 11. Grebeshkov is the youngest player ever to wear a Monarchs uniform. Prior to his appearance in Friday's game (October 10) against the Worcester IceCats, the youngest player ever to wear a Monarchs uniform was center Michael Cammalleri. Cammalleri debuted with the Monarchs on October 11, 2002, against Lowell. He was 20 (birthday is 6/8/82) at the time.
