Express Set 2003-04 Roster

ROANOKE, VA – The Roanoke Express has finalized its 2003-2004 roster, it was announced today by Head Coach Tony MacAulay. The '03-'04 Express features nine players returning from last season, and two players who are making their ECHL debut's and two players making their professional debut's.

Those returning to the Express include forwards Shawn Limpright (14 goals, 19 assists, 33 points in 63 games last year), Dan Carlson (35 G, 43 A, 78 PTS, 72 GP), Rick Kowalsky (27 G, 55 A, 82 PTS, 68 GP), Blair Stayzer (2 G, 3, A, 5 PTS, 15 GP), Joe Dusbabek (27 G, 34 A, 61 PTS, 62 GP), and David Silverstone (1 G, 12, A, 13 PTS, 52 GP). Joining the returning forwards are defenseman Duncan Dalmao (11 G, 29 A, 40 PTS, 68 GP), Tim O'Connell (7 G, 22 A, 29 PTS, 49 GP), and Josh Barker (4 G, 6 A, 10 PTS, 65 GP).

The forwards making their Roanoke Express debut's this season are Doug Scatchard, who notched 13 goals and 17 assists (30 points) in 17 games with Minot State University last season; Jeremy Kyte, who spent last season in the Atlantic Coast Hockey League with the Macon Trax, and tallied 17 points in 27 games; Andrew McPherson who spent time in the ECHL last year with Wheeling (19 GP) and Charlotte (4 GP), before closing out the season with New Mexico of the Central Hockey League; and Tom Kotsopoulos who spent last season with Laredo of the CHL, scoring 44 points in 51 games.

The defensive corps will include newcomers Dan Carney, who can also play on the forward line, and spent the '02-'03 season seeing action in seven games with the Toledo Storm of the ECHL; Kevin Bergin, who split time last year in the ECHL with Trenton (one point in three games), Pensacola (two points in 30 games), & Cincinnati (six points in 18 games); Dan McNeill, who is making his professional debut after spending last year with Guelph of the Ontario Hockey League (6 GP), and Victoriaville of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (10 GP); and Julius Halfkenny, who made his professional debut last season with Lubbock of the CHL, scoring 18 points in 63 games.

Protecting the net this season are two newcomers to the Express. David Belitski joins the Express after spending the last six seasons as a goaltender in Germany. Last season with Kaufbeuren he compiled a 20-22-4 record with a 3.29 goals against average. Jason Wolfe makes his Roanoke debut after playing in 49 games with Adirondack of the United Hockey League, compiling a 25-13-4 record, with a 2.94 GAA.

The Express opens the 2003-2004 season on Friday, October 17 when the Long Beach Ice Dogs make their ECHL debut at 7:30 p.m. at the Roanoke Civic Center.
