Welcome to the ECHL: The Gwinnett Gladiators will play their first ever regular season game this Saturday against the Charlotte Checkers at the Cricket Arena in Charlotte. Faceoff is set for 7:35 p.m. The Gladiators will continue on the road on Sunday when they face the Columbus Cottonmouths in a 4:00 p.m. start.

Don't Miss it: The Gladiators play their first home games in history on Friday, October 24th and Saturday, October 25th. The Augusta Lynx visit the Arena at Gwinnett Center on Friday and the Charlotte Checkers will be in town on Saturday. Friday is Labor Ready Opening Night Thunderstick giveaway. Saturday night is Kroger/accessAtlanta Rally Towels giveaway.

In the System: The Gladiators added four new faces last week to their training camp roster, all coming from AHL camps. Evan Nielsen and Paul Flache were both assigned to the Gladiators from the Chicago Wolves while goaltender Adam Munro was assigned to Gwinnett by the Binghamton Senators. Brandon Deitrich also joined the Gladiators this week after attending the Wolves training camp.

Unofficial Firsts: Cam Brown becomes the first player to unofficially score a goal in a Gladiators uniform as he tallied the first two goals in the Gladiators 3-2 closed door exhibition scrimmage at the Arena at Gwinnett Center on Friday. Adam Munro picked up the first unofficial win in net for the Gladiators in the same scrimmage. Brown held the Baton Rouge Kingfish career record for most points with 261 points. Munro begins his first professional season after a five year career in the Ontario Hockey League.

Gladiators Community Calendar – Gladiators Director of Community Relations Jim Hall and General Manager Steve Chapman will be the guest speakers at the Gwinnett Municipal Association on Tuesday, October 14th beginning at 7 p.m. The Gladiators will also be represented at the Duluth High School Football game this Friday, October 17th from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. distributing ticket information. Gladiators Director of Community Relations Jim Hall will be a cook off judge for Travel, Inc.'s Annual Cook off on Friday, October 17th from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Travel, Inc. offices in Duluth.

October 10th - Gladiators 3, Augusta 2 - W

The Gladiators overcame a 2-0 deficit en route to a 3-2 victory over the Augusta Lynx in a closed door exhibition scrimmage on Friday night. Matt Dzieduszycki tallied a power play late in the first period to give the Lynx a 1-0 lead after one period. Three and a half minutes into the second, Scott Kelman gave Augusta a 2-0 lead. Cam Brown scored his first of two goals late in the second period to cut the Augusta lead in half and added his second of the night at the 16:44 mark of the third period to tie the game up at two. Brandon Dietrich scored the game winner on a penalty shot with just 43 seconds remaining in the third period. Adam Munro made 18 saves in the win while the Gladiators out shot the Lynx 55-20.

October 11th – Gladiators 6, Augusta 3 – W

The Gwinnett Gladiators used three second period goals and three third period goals in a 6-3 win over the Augusta Lynx Saturday night in exhibition action. For the second time in as many nights, the Lynx jumped out to a 2-0 lead, this time on goals by Louis Goulet, 2:30 into the opening period, and Todd Bennett, at the 1:59 mark of the second period. Kris Goodjohn got the Gladiators on the board four minutes later to cut the Augusta lead in half while Mike Vigilante tied the game at two for the Gladiators with seven minutes left in the second. J.P. O'Connnor gave the Gladiators a 3-2 lead two minutes later. With less than a minute left in the period, Augusta's Todd Nowicki tied the contest at three. The Gladiators took the lead for good on Goodjohn's second goal of the night at the 5:15 mark of the third period. Steve Slonina gave the Gladiators a two goal lead as he beat Augusta goalie Jason Saal on a 2-on-1 break at the 7:05 mark of the period. Gladiators Chris Durno rounded out the scoring with five minutes remaining in the contest. Adam Munro made 16 saves during two periods of action while Ravi Tanna made 5 in the third period for the win for the Gladiators. Gwinnett went 2-for-8 on the power play.

Next Week's Schedule:

Saturday, October 18th, @ Charlotte, 7:35 p.m.

The Gladiators play their first game in history against the Charlotte Checkers at Cricket Arena on Saturday. The organization, playing as the Mobile Mysticks, went 2-4-1 in seven appearances against the Checkers. Charlotte finished last season 41-28-3 for 85 points and a fifth place finish in the Northeast division.

Sunday, October 19th, @ Columbus, 4:05 p.m.

The Gladiators finish their weekend versus in-state rival Columbus. The Cottonmouths finished last season in last place in the Southeast division with a 25-39-8 record, good for 58 points. The organization, playing as the Mobile Mysticks, are 3-1-0 against the Cottonmouths all time. This meeting marks the first of eight match-ups this season against the Cottonmouths.
