Reno, Nev. - In the final game of the homestand the Aces lost by the score of 9-2. The Aces scored two runs on 11 hits and recorded two errors. Offensively, the aces were led by Anthony Recker who went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles, raising his average to .322 on the year. Starting pitcher Robbie Ray was dominate for the Aces during his rehab appearance. Ray went 4.1 innings and only allowed 1 earned run on 3 hits with nine strikeouts. His nine punchouts tied him for the most by an Aces starting pitcher this season. The loss moves the Aces to a record of 33-39 on the season, 10.5 games back of first place.
After allowing an early run in the 2nd inning, Ray, a southpaw, shut down the Storm Chasers by striking out nine of the 17 Omaha batters he faced. The nine strikeouts tie Ray with Taylor Clarke for the most by a Aces starting pitcher. Clarke accomplished this feat on May 18th against the Albuquerque Isotopes. In the bottom of the 2nd, the Aces would regain the lead with a pair of RBI doubles from Evan Marzilli and Kristopher Negron to give the Aces a 2-1 advantage. After the two RBI doubles the Aces would fail to score again and Reno would fail to the Storm Chasers 9-2 and clinch the series victory. Socrates Brito finished today's contest 1-for-4, extending his hit streak to seven games.

Vargas made his Triple-A debut in 2016 with Reno. In 49 games, Vargas went 70-for-198, .354). In 2017, his All-Star season, he went 152-for-487 (.312). Cole Gillespie (399), Mike Jacobs (343), Jack Reinheimer (321) and Mike Freeman (301) are the only players in Aces history with more.
Ray Day Reno: Robbie Ray recorded nine strikeouts in his rehab start today, which tied Taylor Clarke for most strikeouts for an Aces starter this season. Ray has recorded 218 strikeouts in each of his last two Major League seasons and has 45 in six starts for the D-backs this year. Ray last pitched for the Aces in 2015, where he went 2-3 with a 3.67 ERA.
