Tacoma Rainiers News Release
TACOMA, Wash. - Seth Mejias-Brean's three-run home run in the sixth inning powered the Tacoma Rainiers (37-34) to a 5-2 victory over the Iowa Cubs (25-43) Monday night at Cheney Stadium.
Mejias-Brean (2x3, R, 4 RBI, HR) and catcher Mike Marjama (2x3, R) led the way for the Rainiers on offense as they captured their 17th come-from-behind victory of the season.

Rainiers starter Ross Detweiler (1-1) delivered his second quality start in as many attempts, allowing just two runs across 6.1 innings and striking out three Iowa batters Monday night.
Tacoma reliever Tyler Higgins continued his strong form out of the bullpen recently by keeping the Cubs scoreless through 1.2 innings and allowing just one hit.
Taylor Davis opened scoring in the top half of the fourth with an RBI-double down the left field line to score David Bote and give Iowa a 1-0 edge.
The Rainiers stormed back to take a 2-1 lead in the bottom half after Mejias-Brean singled to right field to score first baseman Daniel Vogelbach and second baseman Zach Vincej grounded out to score shortstop Gordon Beckham.
The Cubs leveled the score in the sixth with an RBI-groundout of their own from Bote that scored Mark Zagunis and moved the score to 2-2.
Mejias-Brean then launched his sixth homer of the season, a three-run shot that landed in the R Yard beyond left field, to put Tacoma out in front 5-2 during the bottom of the sixth.
Rainiers reliever Shawn Armstrong (S, 3) retired the side in the top of the ninth on just nine pitches to earn his third save of the season and solidify the Tacoma victory.
The Rainiers and Cubs return to action Tuesday night at 6:05 p.m. for the series finale. Right-hander Duane Underwood Jr. (2-6, 4.50) will get the start for Iowa and Tacoma has yet to name a starter.
