
Rivermen Release 2007-08 Season Schedule

The Peoria Rivermen released its 2007-08 American Hockey League schedule today, which includes a visit from reigning back-to-back Calder Cup Champions the Hamilton Bulldogs and the first-ever appearances of the Quad City Flames, Rockford IceHogs, and Lake Erie Monsters.
Opening night is slated for Saturday, October 6th as the Rivermen host the Milwaukee Admirals to kick off this year's 80-game docket. Notable debut nights include the Quad City Flames on Friday, October 19; Chicago Wolves on Sunday, October 21; Rockford IceHogs on Saturday, November 10; Hamilton's only appearance of the year on Tuesday, December 11; the Rochester Americans play a single game in Peoria this year on Saturday, December 15; and the Lake Erie Monsters play the first of its two games at Carver Arena on Saturday, March 1.
"This is the best home schedule we've received from any league," said Rivermen President and CEO Bart Rogers. "With 26 Fridays and Saturdays, plus some of our weekday games falling during holiday breaks, we're very excited about how fan accessible this schedule turned out."
Peoria will have a pair of season-high five-game home stands this season, with the first starting Friday, December 7 against Quad City and ending with Rochester's solo appearance December 15; the second kicks off Saturday, January 26 against Milwaukee and concludes Tuesday, February 5 versus the Manitoba Moose.
Special start times at home this year include three 8 pm starts: December 29 vs. Rockford, January 26 vs. Milwaukee, and March 1 vs. Lake Erie. February 2 vs. Milwaukee will be a 7:30 pm start, and Sunday, February 24 will be a 4 pm start against the Manitoba Moose. A New Year's Day game against the Houston Aeros is scheduled for a 7 pm start time, subject to change.
Regular start times this year will be 7 pm for all games Tuesday through Saturday, and 3 pm on Sundays.
Road highlights this year include an opening weekend clash with rival Quad City on Sunday, December 7; the team's first trip to Texas to play San Antonio and Houston October 12 and 13; Peoria's first-ever games in Cleveland against Lake Erie December 21 and 22; solo visits to Rochester January 13 and Hamilton January 15; and the premier visit to the Rockford Metro Centre on January 23.
Of the 40 home games at Carver Arena this season, six will be on Tuesdays with only one Wednesday and one Thursday game scheduled. The Wednesday game is a Boxing Day (Dec. 26) match against Rockford, and Thursday, January 31 marks a visit from the Grand Rapids Griffins. There are 13 Fridays and Saturdays on the schedule this year, plus six Sunday games as well.
The Rivermen will wrap up this year's regular season with three games in three days, hosting San Antonio on Friday, April 11 and Iowa Saturday, April 12, followed by a Sunday matinee in Chicago at 3 pm.
