Monarchs Announce 2007-08 Schedule

MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the National Hockey League's Los Angeles Kings, will open the 2007-08 season at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Saturday, October 6, the AHL and the Monarchs announced on Tuesday.

The Monarchs will open their seventh AHL season against the Providence Bruins at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Saturday, October 6 at 7:05 p.m., followed by their first road game of the season against the Springfield Falcons at the MassMutual Center on Sunday, October 7 at 4:00 p.m. The Monarchs will host the Worcester Sharks in their traditional New Years Eve celebration on Monday, December 31 at 6:05 p.m.

The Monarchs 80-game schedule includes 40 games at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester. The Monarchs will meet all 13 of their Eastern Conference rivals as well as four Western Conference foes during the 2007-08 season. Fifty-six of the Monarchs 80 games will be played against teams in the Atlantic Division, which includes the Hartford Wolf Pack, the Lowell Devils, the Portland Pirates, the Falcons, the Sharks and the Bruins. The Monarchs will play Lowell, Portland, Springfield and Worcester 10 times (five home and five road) and Hartford and Providence eight times (four home and four road games).

The Monarchs will also face seven teams in the Eastern Conference's East Division, the Albany River Rats, the Binghamton Senators, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, the Hershey Bears, the Norfolk Admirals, the Philadelphia Phantoms and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. The Monarchs will play Norfolk four times (two home and two road games) and Albany, Binghamton, Bridgeport, Hershey, Philadelphia and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton twice (one home and one road game).

Manchester's Western Conference opponents include the Rochester Americans from the North Division and the Chicago Wolves, the Milwaukee Admirals and the Rockford IceHogs from the West Division. The Monarchs will play Chicago, Milwaukee, Rochester and Rockford each twice (one home and one road game).

The Monarchs will face the Wolves, Admirals and IceHogs for the first time in franchise history.

In addition, Manchester has moved all start times for home games on Friday and Saturday from 7:35 p.m. to 7:05 p.m. Unless otherwise noted, all games Monday through Thursday will remain at 7:05 p.m. and Sunday games will continue to have the puck dropped at 4:05 p.m.
